Functional and technical specifications

  • Built with Javatm2 (JNDI, JDBC, XML)
  • TCP/IP environment
  • Multi platform support
  • Reliable
  • Two way flow
  • Fully configurable
  • Customized logs
  • Event based “Alert module”, extensible by program
  • Constructed attributes module, extensible by program

An easy configuration set

In order to facilitate the configuration of the connector, SmartWave delivers each SWC-xxx with generic scripts and configuration examples:

  • Start and stop scripts examples for Solaris and MS Windows
  • Configuration file describing log format and rollup
  • Configuration file describing how to join configuration objects
  • Sun Directory Server schema extension using IANA registered OID based numbers
  • Several configuration objects in ldif format
  • Creation script for intermediate HSQL tables
  • Full set of documentation in Adobe® PDF format
IT developers can easily adapt these generic scripts and examples to configure the SWC-xxx to their requirements.
The configuration is independent and separated from the binaries. No configuration information is hard coded in the binaries.
The SWC design supports :
  • The compatibility of the SWC over the OS release
  • The portability of the SWC across the development, test and operation platforms
  • The distributed architecture: data, binaries and configuration on multiple servers

Audit trail module
With each SWC-xxx, SmartWave delivers a library that logs events in a format compliant with various industry standards (Microsoft Event Log, Unix Syslog) or in customized file or database formats. In addition this utility can send SNMP traps. It is delivered with several tools and a full set of documentation. SmartWave delivers this utility with operational examples. IT developers can customize it to integrate events generated into their own IT monitoring framework.
Examples are delivered with each connector.

Alert module
SWC is designed with an “event driven alert module”.
SmartWave delivers SWC-xxx with an example of alert handling using email services. Specific features such as SNMP traps can easily be set. SmartWave has its own a registered IANA number.

SmartWave provides the source code and the JavaDoc of the alert module. Therefore the IT department can decide to integrate this alert module to its global operation and administration tools.
Examples are delivered with each connector.
Constructed attributes module
SWC is designed to extend dataflow with constructed attributes.
SmartWave delivers each SWC-xxx with ready to run operational examples for

  • Constant attribute value
  • Time stamp
  • Email construction
  • Employee number generation

SmartWave provides the source code and the JavaDoc of the constructed attribute module. Therefore the IT department can decide to integrate this alert module to its global operation and administration tools.
