January Newsletter

SmartWave’s CEO message

Our CEO,Denis Ronssin, took the opportunity of SmartWave’s first 2019 Newsletter to thank those who have helped to shape our business and explain how we are evolving for this new year.

We also want to wish you and your family all the best for 2019!

DevopsDays Geneva

This first DevOpsDays Geneva edition, organised by a team of DevOps enthusiasts, will be held at the Haute Ecole de Gestion in Geneva on the 21st and 22nd of February. The program presents a dozen conferences and workshops, led by worldwide DevOps and digital transformation experts.

As you may know, SmartWave has its own DevOps Team, so we decided to sponsor this first major DevOps event. We look forward to welcoming you to our booth.

How to address security in the DevOps approach

Security is an integral part of the design and maintenance of a software application.
The DevOps approach is an opportunity to make a shift left, that is to say to consider security issues at the earliest stage in the development cycle. Here is a quick tour of good practices and steps to migrate to a DevSecOps approach.

API workshop in Geneva

SmartWave and Axway are pleased to invite you to an exclusive seminar to understand how API Management can support your digital transformation.

The event will take place on the 14th of February in the Hotel d’Angleterre.

You will discover: How to define an API Governance; How to secure an API platform implementation project; Why a microservices architecture improves agility and accelerates the change of pace; How a Swiss fragrance & flavor company used API to transform its business.

Git: which branching  strategy?

Git became the standard for source code management. To finalise your Git training, you’ll find in Simon’s article a guide to use Git’s features in a DevOps spirit.

SmartWave will be present at the LEC exhibition

As we have for the last three years, we will be attending the LEC exhibition with our partners Axway and Denodo. It will take place on April 9th & 10th, 2019.

We are preparing sessions to present the value of API Management and we will have some free tickets for the exhibition. Feel free to follow us on Linkedin to stay up to date.

We look forward to welcoming you to our stand during the event.

Denodo partnership

We are pleased to announce a strategic partnership with Denodo.

Denodo is a leader in data virtualization. They provide agile, high performance data integration and data abstraction across the broadest range of enterprise, cloud, big data and unstructured sources. All of this delivered as real-time data services at half the cost of traditional approaches.

SAML on the rebound

While there are many examples available on the Internet which explain how the various OAuth 2 flows function, we have only ever seen demonstrations relying on a simple login form for user authentication.

The OAuth 2 SAML Extension Grant Flow is an excellent solution to the problem of how to integrate SAML IdPs and SAML clients with RESTful backend APIs, but is poorly suited for use with RESTful clients authenticating to SAML IdPs.

Docker MeetUp

On the 31st of January SmartWave will host its fourth Docker Meetup, this time we will be joined by Emile Vauge CEO & founder of Traefik.

This  will be a great opportunity to deep dive into reverse proxy and load balancer with two presentations.
