May 31th, 2017 Amazon Web Services (AWS), SmartWave, and Digicomp welcomed 200 people for the first AWSomeday in Geneva, just one year after the launch of AWS Switzerland.
As the first event co-organized with AWS team, the day started with a keynote on “The role of the cloud in a digital transformation” animated by Jim Fanning – Country Manager for Switzerland, Central & Eastern Europe at AWS.
To illustrate the journey into a digital Transformation, Nitin Manoharan, Director, Digital Enterprise Architecture, IS Strategy and Planning shared Philip-Morris approach and experience.
Then, the rest of the day was broken into:
A business Track with other testimonials from Scott Sports using AWS to host and manage SAP Hybris, and from Kempiski Hotel about its journey with AWS to move its datacenter the cloud.
A technical Track with presentations and live demonstrations on:
- Agile DevOps and Serverless Computing,
- Governance challenges for public Cloud
- Big Data Analytics and Machine Learning
In a convivial atmosphere, this first AWSomeday gave the opportunity to meet and share with the fast growing and promising community of AWS users from our region.
